Study the ideologies, causes and personalities that drove the war machine in the war that changed our world. This 8-week study will take you and your students on an in-depth tour of World War II - beginning with the aftermath of World War I and how that rebounded into WWII, discussing the conflicts in Asia prior to the start of the world war, gaining an understanding of the ideas and personalities behind the powers in play, crafting a biblical perspective on war, studying and mapping the battles of the war, identifying the changing technology that made this war different from those before it, seeing the impact of the war on the homefront and the unified efforts backing the soldiers and studying the sad victims of the war and its racist roots. All of this will be accomplished through a wide variety of hands-on activities, mapwork, timelines, food sampling, charts, creative writing and reading activities. This unit is geared at upper elementary and middle school students and could easily be used for high schoolers.
