I love to use Margaret Wise Brown’s The Important Book as a springboard for students to demonstrate their knowledge of important information during a unit of study. Using The Important Thing format is a fun and creative way to assess student learning in a variety of subject areas. For this one, start by having students brainstorm what they have learned so far about this topic. Next, have them think of the most important details about clouds. Have them complete the frame provided and then illustrate their page. Completed pages can then be displayed on a bulletin board or bound together to create a class book. I have included a matching cover for the class book or display.
