-un Word Family Book (Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade)
Integrating writing into every standard gives students writing practice which leads to success. Word families are great for rhyming and making words with manipulative letters, but also for listening for letter sounds and stretching those words to hear every sound. Writing those matching sounds and then blending the words to check for accuracy goes hand in hand with reading skills. This 5 page book is designed so that you can copy the book, cut it in half, staple, and then it is ready for use. Each page has a picture in the -un word family with three blanks for students to write each -un word. Each page also has three blank lines for students to create sentences for each picture in the -un word family. The four -un pictures included in this book are sun, fun (children playing with a ball), run, and bun (hotdog bun). This is great for a mini lesson for word families, homework, morning work, or literacy centers. I hope your students enjoy creating their own sentences for the -un word family pictures. Thanks for stopping by! Sherry Clements

I am a kindergarten teacher with 22 years of teaching experience! I received my Doctor of Education degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University in June 2010. The title of my doctoral study is "Writing Conferences in Kindergarten: Using Feedback to Enhance Student Writing." My passion is teaching writing to my students and providing feedback for their writing experiences. I love teaching kindergarten. It is amazing to see students enter the classroom not even knowing how to hold a pencil and watching them become readers and writers by the end of the year. I love teaching in small groups and rotating student groups with literacy centers and math centers.
