The Independent Town: An Economics Mini Unit for Little Kids
Grab this fun, free Economics unit for your elementary kids. Build a town that is sustainable by thinking about economics. It's a fun unit that they won't forget!
In this resource you will find a detailed 2 week mini-unit on Economics. We all know that these topics can be boring, especially to young school –aged children so I tried to create a meaningful, fun approach to teaching this unit. During this unit we work together to build a town that can survive on it’s own without much help from outside. We work together to brainstorm what a town really needs, what goods and services our town provides, and how we can get consumers to visit our business. In the end of this unit, students will balance their monthly budget based on the job they received and their chosen family size.
This mini unit only focuses on the economic concepts of: Wants vs. Needs Goods vs. Services Producers vs. Consumers Saving and Spending
This unit also provides opportunities for students to work on persuasive writing, marketing strategies and analysis of local businesses, and their creativity.
