I love science and all the fun ways to explore it! This packet was designed to help you teach your students how to understand the scientific method, its steps, and the process skills scientists use everyday.
In this packet, you will find lesson plans that introduce students to science and being a scientist, observation skills, measurement skills, and the other process skills. You will also find engaging lesson plans on the scientific method, including read alouds. In addition to about two weeks of lesson plans, you will also find practice pages, a center activity, and vocabulary pages.
The best part is the experiments! There are experiments where students explore and utilize the processing skills and steps of the scientific method. I have also included posters to reference and other fun activities such as creating a processing skills tabbed book and ordering test tubes with the scientific method steps. I have also included two different versions of the process skills to accommodate different school districts.
This product can be taught before you start all your units or as a supplement. Further, it can be used throughout the year as a review of the scientific method.

I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors in Science degree and an elementary education certificate. I am certified to teach K-8 Self-Contained and Middle School Science. I have taught ever since graduation, with most of my experience in 5th grade. I'm currently completing my Masters program in Differentiation. I utilize a lot of differentiated strategies along with the workshop model in reading, writing, math, and sometimes science. I love more hands-on activities that are related to real life for students to explore. I'm not a huge fan of worksheets, but do use them occasionally.
