Laurie, from Inspiring NH Kids, shows us how to create our own Globes from scratch!
“Yesterday, a friend and I went over different concepts in Geography, I ordered a great hands on projects for the kids at Lakeshore Learning. Today we made our globe from a balloon, flour, newspaper strips and water.
First, I blew up two balloons, my kids where so thinking, why is mom doing this?
Then I went to the recycling bin and got the newspaper out, I cut it into strips, about 1 inch wide.
I then got the flour and measured 3 cups, I did the same with the water. It’s an even ratio recipe.
Then I called for the kids. There were, like what are we doing??
I had them dip each strip of paper in the flour mixture, and wiped off excess, and then just wrap them around the balloon. It will be drying overnight, I’m hoping we can paint tomorrow!”
