Have you heard of Task Cards? Have you used them at home or at school? I love how versatile they can be! You can use task cards in Kindergarten or High School. You can use them for Math, Reading, Science, or even History. And, you can use them ANY time of year because even if your kids aren’t working on that topic right now, it is always nice to practice the skills over and over again.
So, how do you USE task cards? There are SO many ways (and none are “right” or “wrong”), but here is a short list of Task Card ideas:
1. As a whole class game! Many call this game “SCOOT” because you leave one card on each desk or table for the kids to work on one at a time. When the time is up, they SCOOT to the next one!
2. As a small group or partner game! Some teachers have been so creative with this idea!
3. Small group interventions! Have kids work on these cards individually while you work with another child and/or group. If you are using these at home, you can use them for your child to work on while you are working with another child or while putting a baby down for a nap.
