    My kids love math!

My kids helped choose this curriculum at a curriculum fair they attended with me. They loved the manipulatives that were displayed. They were so excited to get started with the curriculum when it came in the mail. The scripted curriculum makes everything so easy for me to use. We have been using the curriculum for a year and a half and the kids still love doing math.

There are some good things about it, but not enough to make up for the bad

Many of the lessons are confusing with an awful and difficult to decipher format and even some contradicting instructions. You have to use your own common sense to figure some of them out (because they contradict themselves).
Whenever I pull out these lessons, my kids go, "Ugh. Again?"
The reason I bought the system was to have a ready to go lesson plan that didn't require much thought. It was a stressful time of life and I needed as much help as I could get! And some of the lessons are simple in that way. But some of them, as I said, are just awful!
I paid a ridiculous amount for it, so it's a good thing the manipulatives are useful or I would be really, REALLY upset!

About the Seller

ShillerLearning
(5 Reviews)

ShillerLearning: Montessori at Home publishes research-based math and language arts curriculum, music, manipulatives, flashcards, and workbooks for students of ages 4-13 (including pre-K and pre-Algebra), with beautifully designed lessons, diagnostic tests with answer keys, songs, and Montessori-based manipulatives.

No Montessori or subject (math or language arts) knowledge is required and there's zero lesson preparation - just read (or have your child read) what's in quotes and you're good to go! Activities are multi-sensory, using all four learning styles: visual, tactile, auditory, and kinesthetic.

A unique combination of spiral and mastery approaches, ShillerLearning curricula include authoritative materials and lessons used by thousands of Montessori schools worldwide and is the curricula of choice for homes and classrooms nationwide. Students using this approach consistently outperform their peers.

ShillerLearning founder Larry Shiller worked with child behavioral education and Montessori experts at Princeton Center for Teacher Education, a nationally renowned Montessori teachers training institute, in the editing of books 1-3 and selection of manipulatives when ShillerMath was first developed in 2002.
