Seven Continents and Five Oceans
This is a student book created for classroom or homeschool use when studying the seven continents and five major oceans. It includes a cover page, label by number student maps, and pages picturing an outline of each of the seven continents where students are asked to label the continent and write three facts about it. All pages print in black and white.
To allow for differentiation, I have included alternate label by number student maps and quizzes with word banks included, and continent study cards. The cards feature a picture of each continent and the continent’s name. The study card pages can be stapled onto the back of the continent book for students to reference as they complete it or can be sent home to help students study their continents.
When using this book in my second grade classroom, I read aloud a nonfiction book about each continent under our document camera. We discussed features of the continent as I read, and students took notes in their books. The student-made books were then sent home to share with families and aid students in studying for their continent quiz.
This book could also be used for recording information discovered through independent reading about the continents or independent internet research.
UPDATED 2/15/15: I have now added a label by number map of the five major oceans and printable quizzes for both the seven continents and five major oceans. Quiz answer keys have also been added.
