2D Shape Games (Interactive and Differentiated!)
This 2D shape resource includes an interactive vocabulary reference page, a shape reference page, and 5 interactive partner or small group games designed to help your students practice recognizing shapes and their defining attributes with specific vocabulary.
Vocabulary terms include closed shape, circle, quadrilateral, square, rectangle, trapezoid, rhombus, parallelogram, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, parallel lines, right angles, angles, and vertices.
The following games are included in both color and black and white versions (the black and white versions work great as homework activities!):
•2D Shape Bump (includes 2 versions for differentiation)
•What’s Your Shape (has two sets of differentiated cards)
•Guess My Shape Rule (has two sets of differentiated cards)
•Shape I Have Who Has
These activities address the following Common Core Standards:
*CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.G.A.1: Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
*CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.G.A.1: Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces.1 Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
*CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.G.A.1: Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.

About the Seller
I have been teaching elementary school in an urban district in Massachusetts for six years. I began my career teaching in first grade and have now transitioned into second grade. I especially enjoy creating engaging book studies and center activities for my students.
I believe in providing my students with plenty of positive reinforcement and a variety of ways to access any and all academic content. My lessons incorporate authentic, hands-on, and cooperative learning experiences whenever possible, and I provide many opportunities to build reading and writing skills across all content areas.
I hold a bachelor's degree from Clark University where I majored in Psychology and minored in Education and Sociology. My master's degree is in Teaching and is also from Clark University.
