Do you need more ways for your students to practice important skills? Have you ever been in your small group and what you planned that day didn't take as long as you thought it would? Or do you want your students to review major skills a couple of times a week so they don’t forget but you just can’t find the time to do it? If that’s you then these pages will be great for you.
These pages have so many wonderful uses such as morning work, early finisher pages, centers, etc. The way I use them in my class are mainly for two reasons. I wanted something quick and simple that I could pull out for a review during the last few minutes of my math or reading groups or something handy I could pull for those days that my groups got finished before our time was up. I make about 5-6 copies of each page and store them in a binder by month. During a certain month I’ll keep that binder at my small group table and pull pages as needed. I use Smart Pal sleeves or if you don’t have these you can use sheet protectors and dry erase markers. This way I don’t have to make class sets and I don’t have to copy each year. I don’t use every skill page with every group. It depends on the needs and levels of each group. I do place a sticky note on the master copy of each set of skill pages and jot down which groups have completed the practice page that month since all groups won’t do the same thing every meeting. This makes it easy to flip through and pick a different skill that the group has not covered yet that month.
These were designed for a 2nd grade classroom but the skills could easily be used with a 1st or 3rd grade class.
