Money: Money All About Coins Bump Games contains 12 different money games to help students practice naming coins, identifying coin values, counting coins, and adding coins (Common Core 2.MD.C.8).
There are different types of money bump games included to give all of your students practice, whether they need help with the very basics or whether they're ready for more advanced concepts.
*2 Coin Naming Games (i.e. see the picture of a quarter and identify that it is a quarter)
*2 Coin Values Games (i.e. see the picture of a quarter and recognize that it is worth 25 cents)
*2 Coin Counting Games (i.e. see the picture of 2 quarters, 2 dimes, and 3 pennies and recognize that it is worth 73 cents)
*3 Coin Addition Games (i.e. see the words "1 quarter, 3 nickels, and 6 pennies" and recognize that it is worth 46 cents)
*3 Make $1 Games (i.e. see 46 cents and determine that 54 more cents is needed to make $1)
These money bump games are so simple to use, and take a minimal amount of prep. Simply print out the game sheet, get 2 dice and 20 counters, and you'll be ready to go!
To play, students roll the dice to move their piece on the game board track. After rolling, they have to read the description/look at the image of the space they landed on and find the matching space in the center of the game board (for example, in one game you may land on the words "2 quarters, 3 nickels, and 6 pennies" and you have to find "71 cents" in the center). Once students find the match, they cover it with their counter. Students have to get all of their counters onto the center game board spaces without getting "bumped" off by the other player.
