Product Description

Help bring awareness and celebrate the service of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard with this Memorial Day activity.

Memorial Day takes place on May 25th, 2015! Use this packet to introduce the history of Memorial day to students in elementary school. I've used this with students in grades 2 - 5 before.

Did you know that the Memorial Day was first established in 1868 in Arlington National Cemetery. Facts about Memorial Day and questions regarding its history and current practices are found in this packet. Students learn about the words Decoration Day, armed services, army, navy, marines, air forces, coast guard, years, decades, elapsed time, expanded form, government, flags, moment of silence, National Monument of Remembrance Act, and honor.

Have some fun and learn in the process while exploring the history of Memorial Day. The preview file has the first sheet, which includes information about the history of Memorial Day.
