Product Description

Make reading comprehension and story retell fun, engaging, and meaningful. Give your students another way to "show what they know" and help learning stick! This product is great for guided reading instruction, balanced literacy instruction, and for use with both large and small group reading instruction. My students LOVE this and it has truly improved their reading comprehension skills.

This product includes:

*A complete description of how to use this product in your classroom including photographs of it in use, ideas, and suggestions for implementation..
*Colored anchor charts featuring each reading comprehension and text feature strategy. Topics include: Characters, story retell (somebody, wanted, but, so), cause and effect, story sequence, (beginning, middle, end), setting, questions I still have, main idea, Visualization (I can read with my five senses), Connections to the text (text to self, text to text, text to world), and fiction vs. nonfiction. These make a great springboard for balanced literacy mini-lessons
*Eleven sticky note planning pages for students to record and add their responses and connections to the text. The topics correlate with the anchor charts.
*Six sticky note templates using the following symbols: heart (part of the story I loved), + (something I learned), ? (I'm confused), ! (Wow! That's interesting), smiley face (a funny part), star (an important part). Directions to print these patterns onto sticky notes are provided.
