I've never used LOF. How many lessons are in each book? How many books do you suggest completing in a school year? Thanks so much!

Generally, we recommend about 6 weeks per book. However, this depends quite a bit on your student's strengths and interests.
If you do blow through a book faster than expected, you might want to repeat it until you're ready for the next one. You can find all the Fred books on Educents here: http://www.educents.com/life-of-fred-sale.

My daughter is 9 and she loves these books. She begs to read them. We take turns reading the "chapters" to each other. They are witty, and not only teach math, but other skills like vocabulary definitions, idioms, and other random facts like library alphabetizing. And we are only to chapter five! I am currently using them in addition to public school. We read them "for fun" in the evenings.

Easy way to teach a child math. We are not quite into the intermediate, my children are liking the elementary series. We couldn't pass up on a sale deal.

Life of Fred is a favorite PRESENT at our home

My son began the series at 5. Now at 6, he begs to read them every night. When I surprised him with Kidneys as a late birthday present, his eyes lit up and his face had a huge smile. He loves the character of Fred and he loves the fact that each math concept is introduced at a pace that keeps it challenging and never boring. He also loves reading the books to himself and as a beginner reader, he has spent HOURS reading and re-reading them. Finally, I love the sturdy covers and binding. My son heavily uses these books, but I know they will last for his younger siblings. Great value! We'll probably buy every volume in the series one day!

I can't say enough about Life Of Fred & this set is no different! My kids breeze through them, but they really internalize the information! Then, they pick them up again in their spare time to read again just for fun!

The Life of Fred contains fun stories about a child prodigy math genius your students can follow along as he gives real-world examples of everything from math to language arts. In the Life of Fred Elementary Math Series, your students will learn everything from telling time, division, beginning algebra, and more!
You can purchase one book at a time or the entire set at a discounted price! Order more as their skills progress such as the Life of Fred Intermediate Series that incorporate biology, physics, and economics using pre-algebra formulas.
The stories carry on through the exercises, and many of the books have a series of quizzes that bridge them to the next chapter. Some books have all the problem solutions in them, while others have separate answer keys or companions.
Written by Dr. Stanley F. Schmidt, these affordable books were designed to keep your students engaged in math while also following along a storyline. Perfect for independent study, each unit teaches concepts that can be applied using real-world examples. Find out more by reading this blog post!
