Ask The Seller
If a student is come from another math program, and has done some high school algebra and some high school geometry, do you suggest going back to start with LoF Advanced Algebra and then Geometry, or starting at Geometry?
Asked on December 8th, 2016 (Edited)

You may want to start with Advanced Algebra. Every student is different, but this way, you won't miss anything between the two different math approaches.

Answered by Life of Fred - Dr. Stanley F. Schmidt on December 12th, 2016 (Edited)
Is the answer key included or is that a separate purchase?
Asked by a Homeschooler, Parent, Teacher, and Super-hero on November 9th, 2016 (Edited)

Answer keys are either included in the books or are shipped along with the books. It depends on the book, but you don't have to buy the answer key separately.

My child took Geometry as a Freshman in high school and is now slated to take Algebra 2. Why do you suggest taking Geometry first ?
Asked by a Parent on June 16th, 2016 (Edited)

Hi! The author actually suggests that you take all of the Algebra courses before taking the Geometry class. As he says, "Geometry is much easier to understand once you have a thorough understanding of Algebra." Hope this helps!

  • Life of Fred, understandable, fun, and affordable
    Nov 15, 2016

My kids have not yet gotten to this level in life of Fred, but because we live overseas, i ordered ahead. The books are great. My husband who has a degree in pure mathematics looked through them, and was really impressed. I wish I had something like this when i was in school to make math fun for me instead of tear jerking (i studied Saxon math).

  • Private School summer support
    Jul 26, 2016

My girls have never liked math because it does not come easily for them. I ordered Life of Fred Alg. 1 as review for them this summer. They like the fun and easy way it is presented and are understanding math more clearly. They agreed that they had fun with math for the first time ever! Now I can't wait for them to use the Alg. 2 and Chemistry books this year along with their reg. curriculum in their classes at school. It should be a big help if they don't understand a concept.

  • LOF does it again!
    Jun 08, 2016

My oldest has been going through LOF for a while and found these books really fun. Fred makes concepts really easy to follow and is interesting to read. High school math has never been easier and more fun to learn!

  • Love Life of Fred!!
    Jun 06, 2016

I was a chemical engineer in my pre-kids life and I had serious reservations that a cute story about a 5 year old could teach math. Boy was I wrong! The first few in the elementary series are deceptively easy - cute, but not really challenging. By Farming I was starting to get impressed. By Goldfish I was really impressed and I am now awestruck in Decimals and Percents. This is a serious math program that focuses on how math fits into your life and slips really advanced concepts into elementary books. I do the lessons with my kids because I don't want them to gloss over those stretch ideas. Looking forward to Pre-Algrebra and beyond.

  • Love LOF!
    May 02, 2016

We started the LOF series from the beginning with my middle child. All the kids would gather around to hear the story. My oldest will be in high school this year, and he begged for LOF as his Algebra I and II curricula. Done!

The only issue I have is getting him to STOP reading it. I don't want him to fly through the book to get the story. I need him to do one chapter and take the time to work through the problems until he has a solid understanding. That usually doesn't take too long, but he loves the story so much that he just wants to sit down and read the whole book!
