    Worth it in my opinion
    Sep 16, 2017

Overall, totally worth it. After learning that I was going to be teaching algebra I needed a resources. Thankfully my classroom neighbor had extra copies of this. The one point of constructive criticism is I wish there were some other topics addressed and it didn't focus so much on rote memorization.

    A little TOO fast
    Aug 22, 2017

My kids were frustrated and confused by the fourth lesson. I could see their brains turning off. Yes, if you follow the schedule and do a LOT of rote memorization, you'll learn math fast, but be prepared for frustration if your kids are struggling in this subject. At the end of the sections they are told to complete a set of facts in 30 seconds or repeat the lesson until they can, or can at least complete the whole set with accuracy. The lessons consist of a short section with a big set of facts. I was hopeful but we stopped using this curriculum very early on. The curriculums we stuck with don't move nearly as fast but I feel more confident that my kids are really visualizing and internalizing the concepts instead of cramming and moving on. That being said, I gave this three stars because I think it's well thought out and has some tips and tricks that are helpful. It just wasn't a good fit for my kids who need a bit more time and variety in order to grasp the concept of math.

    Great teaching idea

This method is great for the tactile learner. My daughter lit up and asked to do math.

    great review fro basic geometry
    Apr 13, 2017

This was a great book to quickly cover basic elementary geometry. My daughter was able to finish it in less than a month and feel competent in basic geometry vocabulary and theorems. We used it as a resource for review before starting on high school math.

    So far, so good.

What I like: I like that I can order one set and use them for multiple students. I love that I can download the worksheets to provide my students with multiple opportunities for practice. I love that they show how the problems are solved because it speeds up the time needed in showing the student where they are going wrong.

What I don't like: I do not like the answers being so easily available. I keep a close eye for cheating.

What I have added: I made a sign off chart that I can print out for each book. I have the lesson number, date, grade (if applicable) or time (for the early timed quizzes). Because I have multiple students using one set of books, I need to keep track of where they are at. I also try to keep a written record in case I need to provide proof to the state that my kids are actually learning.
