About the Seller
LabbaYo was founded in Seattle Washington by Gail Harriott. She has worked for 10 years as a Software Program Manager with Microsoft and Hewlett Packard. Gail grew up in Jamaica where the official language is English but the local dialect, patois, is influenced by residents who came from African, India, China, nearby Haiti and Cuba. Her heritage and observing as her son navigates his multilingual community sparked a desire to focus on language and make it more accessible to other families.
Why LabbaYo? In Jamaica we describe chatterboxes as labba labba. Gail combined labba with yo, which means I in Spanish, to form LabbaYo.
