Halloween Themed Inference Nonfiction Group Activity
Expect your class to get loud with this activity! This activity is a fun activity for your class. I've added some appropriate humor to the nonfiction documents. (Nonfiction doesn't always have to be serious!)
This is an interactive inferencegroup activity that should be used to teach or reinforce inference and analysis of nonfiction materials.
The activity includes 7 characters. Each character is supplied with information (letters, report cards, notes, pictures) that tells their story. Each group analyzes the documents from the characters one at a time. Groups are expected to analyze the documents and make inferences about the characters. Some questions will be basic understanding.
Each character has its own set of questions.
I have used this activity in my classroom with fantastic results. Students walk away with a much better understanding of how we infer and why.
This packet is intended for 4th, 5th and 6th graders.
