When swallowing cough syrup, we expect the medicine to treat our coughs. But that’s just not the case. Chemists say cough syrups only coat your throat, blocking your body’s reflex to cough. So if the cough isn't improving, parents should not up the dose of cough medicine. According to the American Chemical Society, thousands of children are sent to the emergency room every year because of accidental overdoses of cough medicine. Cough syrups do have one known benefit: They can make you drowsy and help you get to sleep, which is likely very much needed. (CNN)
Amazing 4-Year Old Girl Reads 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
This adorable little girl from Georgia grew up a super reader. She was challenged to read 1000 books before she started kindergarten – and she did it! The famous actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth has always been vocal about being adopted as a child. So it’s no surprise that she went to see the film ‘Lion,’ starring Nicole Kidman – a real-life adoptive mother playing an adoptive mother. The film reveals many true struggles that adoptive children and their families face – especially ones with complicated histories.

Photographer Captures Newborn Baby’s First and Final Moments
After years of trying to get pregnant, an Ohio couple finally became parents to a set of twins– one boy and one girl. The twins appeared healthy, but the little boy was born with many abnormalities and only lived for 11 days.
During that time, a photographer captured precious photos of brother, sister, mom and dad – all together.
