Who is it for?
- 1st Graders (6 to 7-year-olds)
- 2nd Graders, (7 to 8-year-olds)
- Kindergarteners (5 to 6-year-olds)
- These word cards are designed to be used as a center or station to practice alphabetical order. They are differentiated so you can meet the needs of your students. Of course, there are many different ways they could be used! Here are a few ideas:
Cut out words cards and have students sort the words in alphabetical order. A record sheet is included in this pack
Have pairs of students play “War” with the word cards (decide ahead of time if the first word or last word in alphabetical order is the “winner”
Pass out word cards to the class. Have students line up in alphabetical order.
Have students choose a card and write a descriptive sentence using the word on their card
Many, many more ideas, I’m sure you will come up with!
Words on pages 5 and 6 can be alphabetized by the FIRST letter only.
Page 7 can be added to make it a bit more difficult (some words will be alphabetized by the SECOND letter.
Page 8 can be added for the highest difficulty level. On this page, every word starts with the same letter and some of the words share many of the same first few letters (snow and snowman).
Blank cards have been included as well for you to add words that you see fit.
