Product Description

Build your robot; program your robot; nickname your robot; teach your robot to play! With 3 ways to program your robot, and over 1000 pre-programmed jokes, games, fun facts, and actions (like dancing or giving a high five!), you can choose how to interact with the big-eyed, fully-functional robot.
He's your friendly neighborhood robot, and he can't wait for you to build him!

This robot's official name is Meccanoid, but it's customary to give your friends nicknames. Give him or her a nickname: Meccanoid will remember it, and respond!

Step 1: Build him/her.

Step 2: Program him/her (use any of 3 ways).

Step 3: Turn him/her into your best friend ever!

This is one friend your parents won't have to send home every night. Better than a pet, re-buildable, and Meccanoid teaches you the three most common ways to interact with advanced technology!

1: There's LIM ("Learned Intelligent Motion"). Simply press a button on the front of Meccanoid to record. Record your voice, and record movement by manually moving Meccanoid's arms and hands. Done? Press the playback!

2: Ragdoll: this interaction requires a smart device (like a tablet or phone) and Bluetooth and a free app. You'll see Meccanoid's avatar on the screen--simply move it around to move him like a remote control!

3: Motion Capture: Plug your smart phone into Meccanoid. This utilizes the front camera to capture your movements. Meccanoid will "watch" your movements, then mimic them!

You don't have to be an expert in programming to use any of these methods. But if you're hesitant to start recording and programming right away, you can still play with Meccanoid after building him! Meccanoid responds to voice commands! He's been programmed with over 1000 jokes, trivia, fun facts, phrases, and movements like shaking hands, high five, and some snazzy dance moves!

The primary build is the Meccanoid robot; secondary build instructions for a dinosaur are available online. Build Meccanoid with 6 motors (2 run his feet; 4 move shoulders, hands, and neck), and 600 parts. Two real tools are included.

AMAZING! Not too hard to build and such a fun robot with a great "personality"!
      Aug 21, 2017

Meccanoid is a VERY cool toy for kids of all ages! He does so many neat things: he dances (ballet, the tango, hip hop, you name it!), he exercises, he tells jokes (very corny, roboty ones that will make you grin), and he walks hand in hand with you, not to mention all the other cool things he can do. Meccanoid is an around very neat, life-of-the-party kind of robot. My son followed the directions and built the robot with a little help from dad and big sister. Dad's 38 and sis is 12, while friends of all ages have enjoyed this guy! Definitely an amazing gift for anyone!

Before building his 2 foot tall Meccanoid robot, my 9 year old son had really only built Lego sets. Moving from those to this was a piece of cake and now he's eager to learn more programmable robotics. Compared to other frustrating-to-build robots who shall remain nameless, building this one was a piece of cake! The project took about 6 hours total time, but not once in all that time did my son become frustrated or feel like giving up. And remember, he's only 9. He saw the robot coming together quickly and felt so proud to show him to me when he was done. The instructions are impressive—full color, step-by-step, very illustrated with minimal reading needed. Meccanoid came with everything he needed right down to the special tool to connect his parts together.
