This robot's official name is Meccanoid, but it's customary to give your friends nicknames. Give him or her a nickname: Meccanoid will remember it, and respond!
Step 1: Build him/her.
Step 2: Program him/her (use any of 3 ways).
Step 3: Turn him/her into your best friend ever!
This is one friend your parents won't have to send home every night. Better than a pet, re-buildable, and Meccanoid teaches you the three most common ways to interact with advanced technology!
1: There's LIM ("Learned Intelligent Motion"). Simply press a button on the front of Meccanoid to record. Record your voice, and record movement by manually moving Meccanoid's arms and hands. Done? Press the playback!
2: Ragdoll: this interaction requires a smart device (like a tablet or phone) and Bluetooth and a free app. You'll see Meccanoid's avatar on the screen--simply move it around to move him like a remote control!
3: Motion Capture: Plug your smart phone into Meccanoid. This utilizes the front camera to capture your movements. Meccanoid will "watch" your movements, then mimic them!
You don't have to be an expert in programming to use any of these methods. But if you're hesitant to start recording and programming right away, you can still play with Meccanoid after building him! Meccanoid responds to voice commands! He's been programmed with over 1000 jokes, trivia, fun facts, phrases, and movements like shaking hands, high five, and some snazzy dance moves!
The primary build is the Meccanoid robot; secondary build instructions for a dinosaur are available online. Build Meccanoid with 6 motors (2 run his feet; 4 move shoulders, hands, and neck), and 600 parts. Two real tools are included.
