Product Description

Exploring America’s Musical Heritage is a 4-hour DVD program that takes you across America to experience and learn about our history and art.

From Puritans and Native Americans; through the founders and pioneers; to the immigrants of Ellis Island and today’s newcomers, Americans have used music, paintings, poetry, dance and architecture to express the essence of life in America.

Professor Carol takes you on location across America to experience its history in color and sound. Travel with her as she interviews the miller at Mount Vernon, the West Point Hellcats, a cajun accordion maker, Ponca dancers, the blacksmith at Colonial Williamsburg, and the curator of the Dentzel Carousel. Visit the Mission San Gregorio de Abo, the Baltimore Basilica, Old North Church, Shiloh Battlefield, Ellis Island, and Congo Square in New Orleans. Additional commentary from many scholars and experts takes you from William Billings to Charles Ives, Phillis Wheatley to Robert Frost, through the Hudson River painters, vaudeville, Tin Pan Alley, Rock and Roll, and much more!

Study guides available for free on Professor Carol's web site.
