Perfect for your upper grade sons and daughters.

All of The Thinking Tree Journals are fabulous, I can't say that enough, this one is no exception. They all have fabulous illustrations, this one follows suit, but is much more geared toward the older crowd, the illustrations are more clean and sophisticated. When you open your journal and look inside it really draws you in. I love how well rounded the learning style is, encouraging books, movies, web investigation.

One way this particular journal is different is the amount of writing. It really encourages the student to get their thoughts out of their heads and into their journal...which is completely appropriate for the older student.

What I have been looking for, for upper level learning!

We have been using Thinking Tree books for about a year, and have the 12 Subject portfolio, and MANY other books- the 12 Subject Portfolio is awesome if you have a child who is a bit more "self governed" but it was taking me a long time to organize it in a way that my son would actually use it... He has a couple of the younger level journals but again for my "black and white" kid, he needs the specific direction of : read a History book, a Science book, etc... This journals spelling pages also up the challenge asking for words that fit parts of speech and then the student uses them to write a poem, story, etc. This book is going to be the "spine" of our first year of highschool and I am so thankful it exists!
