Help build phonemic awareness with CVC Sliders! Phoneme segmentation is the process of breaking a word apart into its individual sounds. It is the opposite of blending sounds together to form a word. However, the two often go hand-in-hand. Phoneme segmentation helps build phonemic awareness and is one of the first steps in the reading process. Oftentimes, students have difficulty orally “stretching out” a word. I am IN LOVE with this product! I love that it is differentiated, using pictures, then pictures with words, then just words to help students break down words and then work on decoding them. I also love that there is a tactile piece that goes with it! I plan on using this resource a lot with my kindergartners and my struggling first grade readers!
