Engage children by creating a 3-D community from beginning to end. Plan, design, and celebrate together. Suitable for children learning about communities and what is needed for a community to function.
This unit is suitable for primary classes that are studying communities in Social Studies. It can be used for younger children who are learning about their own neighborhoods and communities, and it can be used for late primary students who are looking at a variety of communities and making comparisons based on where the communities are found.
I have included an overview of the project as well as a storyboard template, a parent letter, an invitation to the community celebration, a sample of activities for the celebration, and some sample pictures of a community that was created by one of my classes.
I hope you will find this unit a useful tool for sharing knowledge in a hands on way.
