Black History Month
February is known as Black History month and is celebrated to recognize African American History. Former President Gerald Ford urged Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history." Students of all ages can learn from our resources through reading books, using task cards and studying our mini units available. Black History month is a significant part of our calendar year and there are many opportunities for students to expand their knowledge of how African Americans have helped shaped our lives. From studying Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall or Frederick Douglass, Black History month is full of lessons for kids of every age.
