Who is it for?
- 1st Graders (6 to 7-year-olds)
- Kindergarteners (5 to 6-year-olds)
- Beginning readers
- 22 word cards (early sight words and seasonal words)
- 3 punctuation cards
- 20 mini-sentence strips with sentence models for your students
- 3 easy-to-make themed pointers
- a printable student response page
It's time for some wintery fun at the pocket chart! Your kindergarten and first grade students will enjoy using sight words and winter-themed words to build snowy sentences.
Your students' control of sight words and their sentence sense will grow as they manipulate the word cards to construct the sentences shown on the 20 sentence strips. The cards are color-coded to provide extra support: first words in sentences are green and punctuation is red.
This set is also great to use for small group instruction or RTI. Work together on building a sentence that makes sense. Then use the sentence to practice one-to-one match, locating and framing known words, and fluent phrasing and expression. Finally, have your students each write the sentence on whiteboards and read them to you and to each other!
You can easily extend the learning with the included response page for writing: students will write and illustrate their favorite snowman sentence from this set.
