Having become more of a historian than a scientist, it was easy for us to see “Astronomy” from the perspective of “History of Astronomy.” But we still learned lots of science as we went along. As we studied the astronomers, in chronological order, of course, we were introduced to the scientific observations each made. We did learn science – in a historical context.
History of Astronomy is a study we’ve done several times in our family. It’s easy, fun, and informative. It makes a good, reasonably short, topical study, lending itself to a two to four month study, rather than the nine-month study that several of them seem to beg for!
What is included in this Astronomy topical study:
Introduction to Astronomy Facts and Fun
Introduction to Astronomers
Mini Units on Specific Astronomers: Copernicus, Galileo, Charles Messier, William Herschel, Caroline Herschel, Planets Mini Unit/Lapbook, The Development of the Microscope & Telescope, History of Astronomy Time-Line Game, History of Astronomy Timeline with Scriptures, History of Astronomy Timeline without Scriptures, Space Exploration Time-Line Game, Space Exploration Timeline
