Picture prompts for writing provides students with the topic to write about. Picture prompts also provide students with other details to include in their writing. This packet includes 14 picture prompts to get writing ideas flowing for students. These 14 pictures are an acorn, bat, cat, candy corn, candy, spider, ghost, leaves, pumpkin, bat in witch’s hat with moon, group of trick-or-treaters, girl in ladybug costume with candy bag, spider web, and jack-o-lantern. Each page includes space for the student’s name and date. The black and white picture is at the top half of the page for coloring. The bottom half of the page contains five/six lines for students to use for writing about the picture. Writing pages may be used for narrative, informational, or opinion writings. Picture prompts could be placed in a writing center or literacy center for students to choose a picture to write about. I hope your students enjoy writing about each picture included and develop a love for writing.

I am a kindergarten teacher with 22 years of teaching experience! I received my Doctor of Education degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University in June 2010. The title of my doctoral study is "Writing Conferences in Kindergarten: Using Feedback to Enhance Student Writing." My passion is teaching writing to my students and providing feedback for their writing experiences. I love teaching kindergarten. It is amazing to see students enter the classroom not even knowing how to hold a pencil and watching them become readers and writers by the end of the year. I love teaching in small groups and rotating student groups with literacy centers and math centers.
