I've long been on the hunt for tier-three vocabulary resources for my English Language Learners (ELLs/ESOL students), but couldn't find any that fit the bill -- I want my classroom visuals to be simple, direct, and feature REAL photographs. So what did I do? I made my own!
I also wanted these vocabulary resources to be something I can use at ANY elementary grade level, and with below, on, and above grade-level students. With that goal in mind, I've include vocabulary you may encounter teaching the concept of matter in Kindergarten all the way through fifth grade.
In this pack you'll be receiving resources for the following matter vocabulary terms:
- matter - state - solid - liquid - gas - mass - volume - condensation - evaporation - freezing - melting - property - float - sink - color - shape - texture - flexibility - size - atom - molecule - physical change - sublimation - deposition - chemical change - mix - mixture - dissolve - solution
Each word has a vocabulary poster, vocabulary card, related word posters, andgraphic organizers. Posters and word cards are included with two versions: with andwithout the definition.
Related word posters give you versatility! For example, the solid poster also has related word posters for snow/ice, wood, toys, and video game. I've also included sorting headers so that you can utilize the related words as a sort for students (i.e. sort states of matter).
The file includes some additional suggested activities using the vocabulary and related word posters, as well as printing instructions should you wish to print multiple pages per sheet.
Hi, I'm Sarah Plum! I'm a second-grade teacher in Northern Virginia. I teach a high-population of English Language Learners (ELLs), so all of my resources are ELL-friendly and fully-differentiated! I love math, and try to always find ways to create engaging, differentiated materials that are easy for teachers to implement, easy for students to LOVE, and easy for parents to replicate at home!
