Product Description

Students can make five vertebrate animal research projects using these materials.

This packet includes research project templates for each of the following animal groups:
• Fish
• Reptiles
• Amphibians
• Mammals
• Birds

Students will record the following information about a vertebrate animal of their choice:
• Classification
• Diet
• Size
• Weight
• Interesting Facts

In addition to the five one-page research templates, this product also includes:
• Visual Instructions for assembling the project
• Project Title Page
• Your choice of 2 Interlined Pages or Two Lined Pages to make a folded booklet

I typically assign the same animal group to each of my students to complete individually and then I use the remaining templates for "Work on Writing", "Fast Finishers", or as a "Center Activity".

BONUS DOWNLOAD: Vertebrate Classification WebQuest with instructions, poster, and 3-page webquest activity

This Vertebrate Classification WebQuest uses the mnemonic device F.R.A.M.B to recall the animals with an internal skeleton made of bone. Students will compete a WebQuest activity to classify the F.R.A.M.B. animals according to their characteristics. The F.R.A.M.B animals are: fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds.

Classroom tested and aligned with the BC (British Columbia) Science IRP for grade 2.
