Before I purchased, I was just curious about which genres this covers. I am looking to do this type of activity with 5th graders and want to cover the genres their teachers expect.

Hi! I cover the following genres: mystery, biography/autobiography, realistic fiction, folktales, science fiction, historical fiction, and informational.
I currently teach an integrated 4th grade Language Arts and Social Studies class. Although I've been teaching for 20 years, this is only my second year with an integrated curriculum. I love it! I've traded both my social studies text and reading series books for rich literature, primary documents, hands on games & activities, reader's theaters, and close readings to meet and extend all of my language arts standards and social studies content. This connected approach to learning makes so much more sense to both my students and me! It is what has driven me to create so many of my own materials and resources. My hope is that it can benefit other teachers who are attempting this integrated way of teaching!
