All CDs have the story with the music and some of the CDs contain the music only in addition to the main story in music track.

Hi, what age group would your music program work for?
Asked by a Homeschooler on July 29th, 2016
Hi! Our program works well with children of all ages. Five -year-olds will enjoy The Tortoise and the Hare & Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel CDs while children in their early to mid teens will prefer "The Soldier's Tale" by Igor Stravinsky & "Merry Pranks of Master Till" by Richard Strauss. Our other titles, such as "Peter and the Wolf" & "Carnival of the Animals" are great for children (and adults!) of all ages. We hear routinely from parents that they enjoy the high quality production of our recordings and also learn something from the educational tracks. If you would like additional information please give Maestro Classics a call toll free at (888) 540-2811. Thanks so much for your question and have a great day!

What's in the 24-page activity book?
Asked on July 29th, 2016
Thanks for your question! Each activity book is unique and is illustrated by a different artist. They include musical puzzles and games, educational articles on the music, composer and instruments, sheet music, illustrations that go with the story and more! You can view samples of each activity book by looking up an individual CD in the "12 CD Music Collection" on Educents. For example, search "Peter and the Wolf" by Maestro Classics and click on the product; there are a few pages from the activity book under the main product photo. You can do this for all the CDs in the collection! If you have any more questions about the activity books please give us a call toll free at (888) 540-2811. Have a great day!

This set is amazing. My kids exposure to such beautiful music and stories truly enrich her. She loves listening to the music and stories on the set. I never knew before buying this set that my daughter liked music so much.

Great for music exploration and appreciation!

I wasn't sure what to expect with this set. I love the music and the tales. The 24 page activity books are not at all what I expected. They are just a foldable booklet that fits inside the CD case. For some reason I was expecting them to be larger, printable to use one for each child, and a little more in depth. But, they will work for our music appreciation time in school along with a few other books I purchased them for. Maybe I should have done more research on the size of each booklet and what they included.

Homeschool Music Appreciation
Oct 03, 2016
I wanted to teach my kids (8 and 9) music appreciation, but I don't have a lot of background in it myself. These CDs have filled my need - the booklets provide information about the composers, the cultural background of the piece, information about the instruments, and activities (some more exciting for my daughter than son, but it is a nice resource). The music itself is of good quality, and the program provides enough information for my kids to "get" it. They look forward to listening to the next CD and like to attempt the music on the piano (they aren't quite skilled enough yet, but they do get some of it). I think it's a great way to incorporate culture into the curriculum.

Great for Car-Schooling!

We have not listened to all of these yet, but the ones we have listened too have been wonderful! I really enjoy the way that deeper reflection on the pieces is encouraged gently, without rigidly telling the listener what they must think or feel. Casey at Bat has become the memory work for my son and he is having a blast re-visiting that particular CD!

These cds are wonderful. The music is well done, the stories are fun to listen to, and there are interesting educational tracks included on each cd. My children love them and I know we will use them often! We've only had them for 4 days and already Mike Mulligan has been played at least 3 times.
