Making New Friends: a social story unit
Does your student choose to work alone? Does he watch the other kids while sitting on the swing all recess. Making new friends is not intuitive. It is a skill that kids need to be taught and coached in. Many kids will choose to play alone, not because they are anti-social, but because they don't know how to enter a circle of friends who are already playing together. With this unit, you can teach your students how to overcome that awkward feeling in their stomach and make new friends.
