Revising and editing is one of the hardest skills to teach students. I put a twist on it by making it more like a tic-tac-toe game. This gives students a choice as to what they would like to change and also tells them specifically what to do. Most students don’t revise and edit because it is simply to overwhelming. This is a fun way to have them practice but on their own terms.
There are two tic-tac-toe boards. The revising board is simply to help students revise their sentence structure, vocabulary, and parts of speech to make their writing more interesting. The editing board is to help students with conventions such as spelling, capitals, and punctuation.
These can be copied with each writing assignment or glued into a writing journal for reference. Be creative in how you use them. I’ve included both a colored and black/white version as well as reference bookmarks for fun.

Hi everyone! I'm Pam creator of Teaching 4 Real educational products. I'm so excited you've stopped by my store to look around! I've been a teacher for 16 years and my love for creating products to meet the real needs of my students is what inspired me to open up my store. Text book companies create big curriculum, but it never supports all of my students. So my creations are born from the need to differentiate.
I'd love for you to visit my blog for great ideas that could hopefuly inspire you www.teaching4real.com.
