Math Mammoth Light Blue Series constitutes a full elementary mathematics curriculum for grades 1-7.
Some of the main features of the curriculum are:
It is mastery-oriented and organized into chapters by topics. Thus, in each chapter the curriculum concentrates on one theme and its connecting topics (such as place value, multiplication, or geometry). Each grade level typically contains 8-10 chapters.
The curriculum focuses strongly on conceptual understanding.
Visual models and exercises are used a lot.
Mental math and number sense are emphasized.
The curriculum is nearly self-teaching for many children, since the full explanations of concepts are included in the student books. Thus it requires fairly little preparation time from the teacher.
The curriculum meets and exceeds the Common Core Standards.
What is provided?
The CD contains the curriculum for each of the grades from 1 through 7 as PDF files.
Each grade level consists of two student worktexts (A and B), which contain both the teaching (explanations) and all the student work (exercises). Also included are answer keys, tests, cumulative review lessons, and a versatile worksheet maker (Internet access required).
Additionally, the CD provides these "extras":
files to replace the chapter on money in grades 1, 2, and 3 in Canadian, British, European, Australian, and South African currencies. The student worktexts use U.S. dollars as a default currency.
user guide (you can also download this from the web page of each grade level)
Common Core alignment documentation (you can also download this from the web page of each grade level)

Do you think that program would work for a child with an intellectual disability?
Asked by a Homeschooler and Parent on May 7th, 2016
Hi! Yes, I think Math Mammoth can work in that situation, also. I have had good feedback from educators using MM in special education. However, the teacher is always a bigger part of the "equation" than the math book. The teacher would need to adjust the pace and how much is assigned, for example. But the foundations of math concepts are the same for everyone. We just cannot expect such children to learn as quickly, nor reach as far as children with normal intelligence.
Well designed curriculum for working ahead of school

I'm not full time homeschooling but I'm working on extra practice/learning ahead for for my son. He's ahead in math and wants to understand higher level concepts than he's currently learning in 2nd grade. Math Mammoth makes it easy for me to pick a lesson and teach it without having to spend hours on math.
The lessons are well put together and explained well to the instructor. I'm using this with the free online Khan Academy. I just wish I'd found this last year!

Comparable to the other mastery based math programs

So I've read quite a ton of reviews for the Math Mammoth Light Blue Series and my 3rd grader is definitely enjoying this set which covers him till he's 7th grade level. I bought this because it's mastery based so we go in depth with math concepts and since there's also the Blue Series, if I ever want to go forward with supplemental work, there's that option for me.
I love that this is the CD-Rom version because I feel we get bonus materials with the Money chapters and I've started reading that part of it because it covers money from other parts of the world. I think it's one of the better programs out there.
