Use this cut and paste activity to see if your students know the difference between their short and long vowel sounds. There is one sheet for each vowel, so you can assess each vowel separately!
Product Description

If you have taught the long and short vowel sounds, then your students are ready to differentiate between them! Below you will find five different short/long vowel sorts - one for each vowel (a,e,i,o,u).

Each student will need one of the following sheets (you can choose to print them in color or black & white), scissors, and glue. They will cut each picture square out (10 per sheet) and place it in the appropriate column.

Check their answers with the answer sheets provided.

You will receive one color copy of each vowel (5 total), one black & white copy of each vowel (5 total), and one answer key for each vowel (this has the words so you can answer any student questions and grade easily!).

Thank you for looking!

I have PreK-6th grade experience. I have taught Kindergarten, 6th grade, Reading Recovery, Title I math and reading, 5th grade inclusion special education, and a multi-grade classroom of ELL students. For a year I was a K-6 Elementary Principal at two schools and district K-12 Special Education Director. Starting in the fall of 2015, I am staying home to work online while raising our son. It's an amazing job! =)

I used to teach Asian students during the evenings, weekends, and summer. Using Skype and other online tools, I taught students from age 6-20. It was an interesting experience

Finally, I blog over at HoJo's Teaching Adventures. Check it out! :)
