I was using a note card to help the kids track where the were reading on the page but this is longer so you do not have to keep moving it back and forth. I like to read the line on top of it but it is sheer so you can also put it over the words you want to read and read lite it is highlighted. There is space to read one line or under that there is a beveled edge then space to read three lines. Not only is it good for the kids but I use one too. I really should be wearing readers more but don't always have them handy and this helps me also.

Interesting Multi-Use Tool

For some kids you will need to use a Sharpie to draw a line on the EyeLighter so they can more easily see where they are supposed to be. I like that there are different areas for different sized font. We use them as bookmarks and then read with them, or as rulers when taking notes. They are a little thick for bookmarks but very durable. The color makes a surprisingly big difference for some students.

I use these for my dyslexia kids that I tutor. If you use a black marker to draw a line in the crease the kids light up at seeing things so much better!

Motivates kids to read

These are okay for showing kids which words to read. I had to explain to my son that I was holding the ruler "under" the words I wanted him to read. They are thick. Kids enjoy picking a color to use.

Great for reading fluency!

First, this is a great aid to help readers track print and accurately and fluently read text. I use these in my classroom and my at risk students have increased their reading fluency by 20 wpm. They choose the color line to use, which gives them more interest in reading. They all prefer to line the 'ruler' under the line of text they are reading. As they read they move the 'ruler' down a line and continue reading. No skipped lines, no struggling on where to start the next line, no picking up word parts from other lines and replacing the existing word part with the one they erroneously picked up. I have one set and am ordering another set. They also seem very durable and are of solid construction.
