The DNA and RNA Bundle includes two power points and two one-page graphic organizer foldables for DNA and RNA.
The DNA Power point covers the historical discovery of DNA, naming important scientists and with explanation of Franklin's DNA photos. The structure of DNA and the nucleotides as well as Chargoff's rules and complimentary base pairing are presented.
The DNA foldable covers the same topics and can be easily taught along side the power point or separately. It only requires one sheet of paper and easily fits into a composition notebook or spiral notebook.
The RNA Power point chronologically presents the properties of RNA as they were discovered. The differences of the structure of ribose and deoxyribose and the differences between DNA and RNA nucleotides. Students will learn how to transcribe DNA into RNA and the function of the three types of RNA: messenger RNA, transfer RNA and ribosomal RNA.

I have been teaching for 15 years in Texas. I work in a border community and have a experience teaching LEP, Sped, GT, bilingual, autistic, and BIC students. I have taught PAP and AP courses as well as trailer courses for students who have repeated science classes multiple times.
I like to teach my students using a lot of art and visuals. We create colorful foldables together and research questions that come up daily. I like for my students to be very creative in class. I also show real life examples. Its is important that students understand how science concepts they learn in school can be applied to their everyday life and occupations. I think it is important for students to not only learn the content but to know a little bit about the scientists and time that went into the discovery and establishment of the scientific ideas.
I was honored by College Board as a promising new AP Science teacher and by my school district.
I received my Bachelors Degree in Biology and Art from the University of Texas at El Paso. I earned my teaching certificate at Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. I received my Masters Degree from Webster University. I also have graduate hours in Biology from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
I am not only a teacher but a parent and an artist as well. I have completed murals for churches in the El Paso area. I also illustrate and create murals for private families and businesses. I write and illustrate children's books.
