Students will actively engage in 4 meaningful, hands-on activities to help further strengthen their understanding of the roles, characteristics & responsibilities of our 3 Branches of Government! The interaction of the branches will be brought to life in a 24 part, whole class reader’s theater. Get students up and moving around the room with a whole class 4 corners game. Involve technology with a QR code game that is perfect for stations or small group review. To gauge students’ learning, use the provided formative, cut & paste assessment. A wonderful complement to any study of US government in the intermediate grades!

I currently teach an integrated 4th grade Language Arts and Social Studies class. Although I've been teaching for 20 years, this is only my second year with an integrated curriculum. I love it! I've traded both my social studies text and reading series books for rich literature, primary documents, hands on games & activities, reader's theaters, and close readings to meet and extend all of my language arts standards and social studies content. This connected approach to learning makes so much more sense to both my students and me! It is what has driven me to create so many of my own materials and resources. My hope is that it can benefit other teachers who are attempting this integrated way of teaching!
