AGS World Geography and Cultures covers the rich variety of life on earth with its easy-to-follow format and illustrated text. This course encourages children to read and gain a better understanding about the world in which they live. Engaging features like Geography in Your Life, Geographer’s Toolkit, and Everyday Life make lessons applicable to children’s lives. Overall, this high-interest, friendly text makes it easy for you to engage your child.

AGS World History covers the beginning of human society to contemporary times. This program provides engaging features such as a History in Your Life and Then and Now, which make history relevant to children’s lives. Biographies, Spotlight Stories, Map Skills and Map Studies, and Document-Based Readings provide multiple perspectives from which to view and learn about history.

AGS United States History is organized chronologically bringing history to life for your child. This edition includes new documents and appendixes for study, such as Washington’s Farewell Address and the Emancipation Proclamation. Fascinating sidebars make important connections between historical events and civics, economics, technology, and geography. This high-interest, approachable text will engage and motivate your child.

AGS United States Goverment is a comprehensive text that explores the origins and development of our government, the history of political parties, and branches of government. This course is designed to appeal to children with colorful graphics, charts, biographies, vocabulary, and study tips to motivate learning. Throughout, your child will be encouraged to relate government to his or her own life.

Student Edition 

The Student Edition provides many features built into the daily lessons that will help your child learn the important skills and concepts he or she will need to be successful in these courses. Goals For Learning launch each lesson by detailing the lesson objectives. Key terms are bolded and defined in the margin for easy reference while building vocabulary. Numerous illustrations provide visual representation of the content to aid your child’s understanding.

Additionally, Document-based Readings provide a personal record of events in the chapter allowing your child to understand events through other people’s perspectives. Each lesson provides Lesson Reviews with brief questions to measure your child’s understanding of the main concepts. Lastly, the Chapter Reviews at the end of each chapter allow you and your child to check for skill mastery of the chapter’s lessons and objectives.

Student Workbook

The Student Workbook aligns with the student edition to reinforce your child’s knowledge, skills and comprehension of the material covered. Each lesson from the student book has a review for your child to work through to build their skills and assess their understanding of the lesson.

Teacher’s Edition

The Teacher’s Edition provides instructional strategies and includes everything from preparation guidelines and lesson plans to teaching tips and strategies in an easy-to-use format. Each chapter begins with the Chapter At A Glance introduction. Next, the chapter lessons are provided, which highlight the objectives of the chapter. Lesson instruction information is laid out around a reduced version of your child’s text, annotated with answers. Each lesson is introduced with warm-up activities, provides teaching walkthroughs, and offers ideas to reinforce and extend the lessons to keep your child engaged in the material. Also provided are teaching strategies to help reach all types of learners. 

This curriculum has been modified specifically for homeschool families. At times, there may be references to print or digital components that are not included within the homeschool bundle. This will not hinder your child's successful completion of the course.

What is the difference between social studies and history?

History is a part of Social Studies, but Social Studies would also include topics like Geography, learning about your local community, Government, etc.
