These practice printables and anchor charts are designed to supplement your teaching of the Common Core Standards for addition and subtraction. I have included activities to help your students make the connection from subitizing and hands-on practice to written equations. This selection of printables includes pages that would work best combined with instruction and others that are ideal for independent practice, morning work, or homework. (Worksheets include: cut & paste, color by answer, count and add/subtract, ten frames, and simple practice pages. All worksheets are visible in the preview!)
In addition to 27 worksheets, I have included two anchor charts (addition and subtraction) and “I can” statements for display that go along with the following Common Core Standards*:
CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA.A.1 Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings1, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations. CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA.A.2 Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem. CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA.A.3 Decompose numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 5 = 2 + 3 and 5 = 4 + 1). CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA.A.4 For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation. CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA.A.5 Fluently add and subtract within 5.
I have taught for 13 years with the last four being in kindergarten. I love teaching young children and I love being a part of a teacher community. Since 2013, I have been enjoying making teaching resources for others to use. I live in Georgia with my husband and my two sons.
